Imperial Youth Review’s Pushcart Nominee

Editor’s note: Nikki Guerlain has been a right hand woman to Chris and I for much of the latter half of the Imperial Youth Review Issue 1 process and is sure to remain an integral contributor and member of this organization. Today, she found out that one of her stories was nominated for a Pushcart Prize, an award honoring the finest short fiction of the year. Nikki has generously provided IYR and you, dear reader, with a sublime sample of the grotesquerie of her tales. ‘Sick Ticket’ is the first of Nikki’s ‘Two Dudes’ stories, a series of Bizarro misadventures that is rapidly building an eager following. ‘Sick Ticket’ was originally published in the anthology In Search of a City: Los Angeles in 1000 Words. This is the first time since then that it has been made available for you to enjoy. Congratulations to one of our patron saints, one of our Scarlet Women. –Garrett Cook, 3rd November, 2012
